Kanchanjunga from Darjeeling

Kanchanjunga is the third highest peak, after Mt. Everest, of the Himalayan range. It straddles the India-Nepal border. The best view of the peak is from Tiger Hill, Darjeeling. As the sun is rising the peak gets drenched in golden hue. Our long and winding trip to the hill before the sun-rise was entirely un-gainful. All days we spent there it was shrouded under dense cloud cover; except for the last day when we were departing late morning the peak decided to lift its veil. We were lucky enough to capture the unveiling in our camera. It is not the rising sun effect, but will do.

Kanchanjunga has been spelled variously. I chose the simplest spelling.
