A Disappearing Cat

She stopped visiting.

Months went a-vanishing.

I reasoned why.

Did she die?

Did she deliver

cute little litter? 

Did neighbor's dog

scare her to a fog?

Then one evening

as we were leaving

she was seen sitting

on the porch

as if holding a torch.

She wanted me to offer 

her share of milk in a saucer.

Where she goes I want no answer

just her daily visits to the door
