Abandoned Places
I am drawn to ruins and abandoned places. Perhaps because they house stories. If only they could tell and we could hear.
I have copied and pasted three photographs from news.distractify.com. To see more one can click on the links provided below.

An Old Hindi Song
A friend favored us with this oldie:
I post it here with the sincerest of apologies for the quality of the video and the sound. But I was willing to sacrifice the quality for listening it once and for the first time. I had never heard it in my life before.
Music: Mohammed Shafi Nyazi
Lyrics: Madhup Sharma.
Singers: Hemant and Lata
Movie: Daara
Year: 1953

Right O'Escape
Somewhere in a
war-torn land
a single lane
dirt road leading
in and out
of a ravaged town
is made impassable.
Gun-mounted tanks
with gunners within,
jeeps packed with
captains and majors
bellowing orders
to foot soldiers
carrying knapsacks,
marching behind.
Kill enemy on sight.
Set property on fire.
Soldiers fatigued
twice over
have a glint
in their eyes
for, they shall kill
for, they shall burn
Suddenly
An alarm shrieks by.
A truck needs to pass
to douse a fire
set somewhere
by the squadron
along their way.
Emergency!
Right o’passage!
Right o’passage!
Tanks jeeps and soldiers part,
as did the Red Sea for Moses,
to allow right o’passage
to men with helmets
on the fire-truck.
It was a ruse.
A subterfuge
to get away
by the men with helmets
on the fire truck; for they
were enemy (POW).
This can happen
in a war-torn zone
And it did!
And it did!
